Quantum theory: The power of the mind

*Disclaimer: This text blends scientific concepts with metaphysical and philosophical ideas. The approach is not strictly scientific but is common in discussions that bridge science, spirituality, and self-improvement. The following is written from personal experiences and personal developments. A lot of these concepts are more metaphorical and mystical. They are not universally accepted within the scientific community.

Quantum physics is science's most precise, powerful theory of reality. So what exactly is it? Well, simply put, quantum physics is the study of matter and energy at the most fundamental level. It's the theory that explains how everything works. There are many hidden truths within quantum theory that explain human nature, and the overall argument is quite simple: energy and matter are one and the same. Through this theory, we can dive deeper into quantum mechanics, a fundamental theory in physics describing the behavior of nature below the scale of atoms. The unlimited potentials that lie within quantum mechanics, I feel, are unknown to so many individuals. Not only are they extremely vast, but they are also life-changing.

When I first started meditating, it was because I dealt with crippling anxiety that was often random (as most anxious thoughts are) and made me feel like my world was crumbling. It didn’t matter how many breathing exercises, 10-minute YouTube videos, and motivational speeches I did—nothing was working because I could not get beyond my mind. It wasn't until one day, my best friend sent me a video of a man named Joe Dispenza, who talked about the power of removing oneself from the constant stimulation of the outer environment that inherently reminds us of who we think we are as a personality. As he so famously says, “becoming nobody, no one, no thing, in nowhere.” This was the first thing he said within two minutes of the video starting. Personally, something about hearing those few words made me take a pause and allowed me to look within and realize that how I felt internally was just a mirror of my external world. If I felt awful and only had limiting beliefs about myself internally, why would I expect my external world to reflect anything else?

YOU, yes you—the person reading this article—are the creator of your life. Every time you learn something new, you make new connections in your brain, quite literally forging new synaptic connections. Day by day, you leave imprints in your neurological tissue as a result of your interaction with your environment. You have the opportunity to apply and demonstrate that information. So, what if you could get your actions to align with your thoughts? What if you adopted the practice of getting beyond your body and no longer allowing it to be the mind? That’s what I had to do, and you can too. The quantum model of reality is about the unpredictable and the place of uncertainty. Anxiety is fear of the unknown. Getting beyond that and understanding that behind change is your new life is incredibly empowering.

Meditation

What are some good first steps? Well, first, at any point of the day, you should find some stillness and meditate. There are countless benefits: stress management, emotional regulation, memory improvement, stress and anxiety reduction, pain reduction, etc. The list truly goes on and on, but the most important aspect of meditation is self-awareness. The word meditation quite literally means: to become familiar with. Many people think to meditate means you have to silence your mind or not feel any emotions, but it’s the complete opposite. You are meant to simply allow them to pass and become the observer of said thoughts rather than the thoughts themselves. There is a constant mental voice in each of our heads that never stops talking, and it never goes well. The power we have is understanding we aren’t any of the things it's saying. If you’re the one hearing it talk, it's obviously not you. You simply hear the voice but don’t have to be any of the things it says you are or feel the way it says you should feel. So as you become familiar with the thoughts, the behaviors, and the emotions of the old self, you're beginning to retire that old self and along with it, those terrible limiting beliefs.

Quantum Mindfulness

When you’re anxious, you focus on one out of the trillions of possibilities that exist within the quantum field. So, what if you focused on a positive outcome and had your internal world reflect in your external world? That is the practice of mindfulness, and one of the most integral ways to get to a mindful state is through the practice of meditation. Of course, it is not an easy journey and takes lots of time and energy to go beyond oneself, but the outcomes are immensely rewarding. How does this tie into quantum theory? Well, energy is the currency of the universe. When you pay attention to something, you buy that experience. Essentially, what you place your attention on becomes matter. Couldn't you place your energy on things you don't actually see and have them reflected and experienced in your external world? More famously said: protect your energy. Be selective in your focus because your attention feeds the energy of what you place your mind on. It's not just mind over matter; it's turning your mind into matter! Don’t just talk about it; be about it. Manifest it. The energy is alive both within you and the collective consciousness around you.
